About The Author: Author Glen R. Stansfield was born in Rossendale, in the Lancashire Pennines. He grew up with a freedom and innocence he believes children no longer enjoy. "They were magical times when play was a product of the imagination; when a tree trunk became a pirate ship, a stick was a sword: all done without the aid of electronics".
His early recollections of school are of a remarkable but fairly strict headmaster, Marcus Dearden. He had an amazing ability to spot the enquiring mind, encourage and develop it. This continued at the local grammar school, BRGS. "Unfortunately I was in the last year to have a fast track stream, gaining eight GCE's by the age of fifteen". The pressure proved to be too much. At the age of sixteen after his first year of A levels studies, he decided to leave school and take up an apprenticeship as a radio engineer with an airline at Blackpool Airport. He is a qualified aircraft engineer, a profession he has pursued for over forty years.
With a lifelong interest in crime, and particularly why some people are more willing than others to be criminals, led him to take a degree in psychology through the Open University. He continued post graduate for two years studying Forensic Psychology. This interest led him to write his debut novel, ‘Fishing for Stones’.
He has three wonderful children. "They may be adults, but he hopes they never grow up and always retain their sense of fun". When not writing, he can usually be found on two wheels, often using his motorcycle to raise money for charity.
His work has taken him to Bahrain where he now lives with his second wife (a fiercely proud Scot, hence the tartan background to his website). He says "Jess is the one that has to suffer his incessant chatter about whatever piece he is working on, but without her I couldn't do it".
A mystery surrounds the lush orchards and farmlands of California’s Sacramento River Delta. As Sara Mason returns to her hometown in order to start a new life, she learns that a serial killer is terrorizing its residents.
Despite battling the memory of the drowning deaths of her younger sister and alcoholic parents, Sara is determined to make peace with her past. However, she soon learns that the elusive psychopath who strangles his victims, snaps their necks, and then buries each along with a dead animal, is now stalking her. Sara’s attempt to rebuild her life is hindered even more by the discovery of skeletal remains both on and near her property. She must move out as the criminal investigation focuses on suspects like the gravedigger Crazy Ike, a cat-killing vagrant, a Peeping Tom, and several others who may be connected to the twenty-eight victims. After several attempts on her life, Sara discovers critical clues and bravely volunteers to be a decoy for the sheriff’s department.
Sara Mason is a woman whose destiny has brought her back home, but her decision may lead her down a path lined with danger and straight into the arms of a madman in this captivating thriller.
