About The Author: California-born Oklahoma raised, author Shirley McLain is a retired RN, enjoying her retirement in Sapulpa, Oklahoma writing poetry, short stories, and novels. She has seen much, not only in her travels but in her survey of the human heart as a nurse, and she comes to this historical fiction novel DOBYNS CHRONICLES with a sound sense of appreciation of the terrain of Texas and Oklahoma, the durability of the pioneer men and women about whom she writes, and a special appreciation for Native American history.

Shirley has a strong love of family both past and present.  She is married to a wonderful man who spoils her and she loves it.  She has two grown children, six grandchildren and twin great-grand sons. Her wish is to pass on this love of family and the land to her family, as it was passed down to her from her mother.

Shirley also has a fur family of four dogs and three cats.  Andy is a Cocker, Angel a teacup poodle, Booker is a Yorkie, and Gus is a Pug/Shih Tzu She says it's like living with a house full of three year olds. Two of the cats have been bottle raised and all three are short haired "whatever's." There's never a dull or lonely moment. Someone is always into something.

The Illegals by Gerald W. Darnell Has Won Our October 2014 Video Book Trailer Contest

The Illegals - by Gerald W. Darnell

Has Won Our October 2014
Video Book Trailer Contest

Crime DOES pay – especially crime that has the support of our legal system.

Carson’s investigative work for Attorney Jack Logan runs smack into the path of the largest law firm in West Tennessee. Trying to stay out of their path only succeeds in putting Carson in the crosshairs of lawyers who want him out of the way.

Power struggles, infidelity, organized crime and eventually murder all appear to be somehow linked to this powerful law firm – McCabe, McCabe, Clark and Lewis.

This is a story of the small versus the large in a little West Tennessee community that has no idea of the crime and corruption that lay underneath their quiet daily lives.

Join Carson as he takes on the fight of his career when he challenges ‘the Illegals’.

About The Author: A Florida native, Gerald grew up and attended high school in the small town of Humboldt, Tennessee.  Following graduation from the University of Tennessee, he spent time in Hopkinsville, KY, Memphis, TN, Boston, MA and Newport, AR before moving back to Florida – where he now lives.

Gerald worked as a Senior Manager with several Fortune 100 companies, before officially retiring in 2007. His non-fiction book, ‘Don’t Wake Me Until It’s Time To Go’, is a bio-narrative including humorous stories and events spanning his life from pre-high school to retirement.

His fiction books are what he calls ‘Fiction for Fun’. They use real geography and include pictures and characters some readers might recognize. The ‘Carson Reno Mystery Series’ are adventure mysteries set in the early 1960 time period, with the primary geography being Memphis and small southern towns. Core characters continue through each book, along with new and unique characters for each story.

During the early 70's the author worked from an office in the Memphis Peabody Hotel. So, many of the events about the hotel in Carson Reno’s stories are real, as well as many of the characters you meet.

His books are available at selected bookstores, gift shops, on-line and through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.  E-books are available at Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes and Noble’s Nook formats.  Audio books at Audible and iTunes.
