Café Spotlight Interview With Author Angela J. Townsend

Angela Townsend was born in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Missoula, Montana. As a child, Angela grew up listening to stories told by her grandparents, ancient tales and legends of faraway places. Influenced by her Irish and Scottish heritage, Angela became an avid research historian, specializing in Celtic mythology. Her gift for storytelling finally led her to a full time career in historical research and writing. A writer in local community circulations, Angela is also a published genealogical and historical resource writer who has taught numerous research seminars. Currently, Angela divides her time between writing, playing Celtic music on her fiddle, and Irish dancing. Angela's YA novel, ‘Amarok’, was published by Spencer Hill Press in November of 2012. In 2013, Angela Signed, ‘Angus MacBain’ and ‘The Island Of Sleeping King’ series, ‘River Of bones’ and ‘Moonflower’ with clean Teen Publishing. Angela's Novel ‘River Of Bones’ was singed to because a major motion picture to be released 2015/16.

Interview:

What makes you proud to be a writer from Montana? I am a country girl at heart. I will always be proud to be from the Big Sky County of Kalispell, Montana.

What or who inspired you to become a writer? My great great grandfather who was a poet.

Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage? Yes. I'm from a family with a strong history of telling stories around the fire.

Do you come up with your title before or after you write the manuscript? Before

Please introduce your genre and why you prefer to write in that genre? I love Middle Grade and Young Adult because I love fiction fantasy.

What has been your most rewarding experience with your writing process? Selling my book as a film.

Have you had a negative experience in your writing career? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? Rejection and negative people are always hard to deal with. You have to believe in yourself.

What has been your most rewarding experience in your publishing journey? Meeting fans of my work.

Have you had a negative experience in your publishing journey? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? I once had an editor steal my entire manuscript before it was published and then make dozens of copies and left them all over a major city trying to ruin my release. Very hard.

What one positive piece of advice would you give to other authors? Keep trying! You will make it.

Who is your favorite author? I have many but I love J.K. Rowling.
