Hairdresser by Douglas Chandler Graham

Hairdresser is the exciting new novel that takes place in the fictional town of Ridgemont Virginia. The main story is about a hairdresser that owns a small beauty shop and her adventures in finding romance. The person she is mainly interested in is married and the pastor of the church she has been attending. She isn’t faithful to any of her lovers nor are these men she dates.

The beauty shop is the epicenter of the gossip that fuels the curiosity of the citizens of Ridgemont. Lillie’s bar, restaurant, convenience store and garage is another lively place in Ridgemont. It’s the watering hole for the town’s alcoholics and others that think of it as their home away from home.

The town’s leading citizen, at least from the commercial side, is found murdered one morning in the snow-covered parking lot of Lillie’s. He owned the paint manufacturing business that most of the working people of Ridgemont received their pay check from. He was a long-time resident and, as far as known, didn’t have an enemy in the world.

The county sheriff, who had jurisdiction of the murder scene, had very little experience in investigating murders. Besides, he had myriad other duties to take care of so he appointed one of his deputies to take charge of the investigation. This woman deputy was told she could work in regular clothing and was assigned an unmarked county car for her investigation. She quickly honed in on some of the seedier characters and by old fashioned investigating, i.e., asking questions, and a little creative lying found the murderer. In the meantime, the hairdresser had run off the rails due to the infidelity of one of her lovers and is put away in a mental institution instead of prison for her crime.

Hairdresser is three hundred pages of interesting action and situations you will find that makes it hard to put the book down until everything is concluded.

Three Trailers Down by Douglas Chandler Graham

Three Trailers Down is the extended story that began in Smoke and Murders.

Although this may be regarded as a sequel it is a complete novel. After the small town of Vinyard is about to settle down after the murders of an entire family, new problems arise to keep the gossip pot boiling.

The story follows the Lieutenant that ran the Vinyard police department and was caught and fired for multiple criminal offenses.

Intrigue, murders, sex and money drive just about all the characters in Three Trailers Down, at least, the more sophisticated ones. The rest take life as they find it

Douglas Chandler Graham tried to get dozens of organizations to look at the arrest and trial of Earl Bramblett in the five years after his trial while on death row. All were overloaded with other cases they were working, which should give some indication of justice in America, or the lack thereof.

High profile cases give the impression every fact is checked and all evidence is examined. In the dark courtrooms of America “justice” is whatever the court determines, the law be damned. A prime example of this is on the ten-year-old website allamosa.com.

There was no justice in that trial and it cost Bramblett his life.

Smoke and Murders by Douglas Chandler Graham

This is a fictionalized story of the murder of the Hodges family as discovered in the small town of Vinton, Virginia, on August 29, 1994. Most of the characters are composites of people known to the author and, except for the murders, most of the situations are made up. Fascinated by the sequence of events as they unfolded, the author could not get the crime off his mind, and over the years, Smoke and Murders evolved. Urged by family and friends to finish the story, the author hopes that it will spark some interest in the real story of a man he believes was falsely convicted. That story is on the internet at http://www.allamosa.com
