Jan Selbourne was born and educated in Melbourne, Australia.
Jan’s love of literature and history began as soon as she learned to read and hold a pen.
After graduating from a Melbourne Business College her career began in the dusty world of ledgers and accounting, working in Victoria, Queensland and the United Kingdom.
On the point of retiring she changed course to work as secretary of a large NSW historical society.
Now retired Jan is enjoying her love of travelling and literature. She has two children, a stray live in cat and lives near Maitland, New South Wales.
What makes you proud to be a writer from Australia? A very proud Aussie, I've been fortunate to have travelled to the UK, Europe and the USA, I've met wonderful people who've inspired me. It’s always good to come home.
What or who inspired you to become a writer? My dad.
Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage? My parents and my school encouraged a love of books and history.
When did you begin writing with the intention of becoming published? 2013
What has been your most rewarding experience with your writing process? My manuscript being accepted and working with a wonderful editor.

Please introduce your genre and why you prefer to write in that genre? Historical Romance. I love history and enjoy researching for authenticity.
What was your inspiration, spark or light bulb moment that inspired you to write the book (one book) that you are seeking promotion for? My ancestor's anecdotes and letters home from Belgium and France during WW1
