Meet Lisa C. Miller

Lisa C. Miller is an inspirational writer. She and her family live in the beautiful state of Alaska where the spirit of animals and men roam free. She writes through the whispered power of the Holy Spirit. She wants to write about the beauty and simplicity of life and reveal the beauty of Christ to the broken and lost souls of humanity. She has been given the ability to write simply and honestly from the heart so it is understandable. She believes writing is a language of the heart and is a beautiful way to share one's innermost feelings.

Lisa C. Miller is an author working under the Holy Spirit's daily direction. She focuses on the Holy Spirits daily direction for her life and writing. She has enjoyed a creative partnership with the Holy Spirit for many years.

She writes inspirational poetry and has published two books so far. She has been told by her readers that her writing reminds them of the Psalms of David. She is similar to Ruth Bell Graham and Helen Steiner Rice.

Here is a quote that she thinks is close to how she writes:

"Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart"

William Wordsworth

Cold Coffee Café Spotlight Interview With Inspirational Poet Lisa C. Miller

What makes you proud to be a writer from Fairbanks, Alaska? My family and I live in the beautiful state of Alaska where the spirit of animals and men roam free. I am proud to be a writer from Fairbanks, Alaska. I have lived here for about twelve years. It is a beautiful unique, strong and untamed place to live just like the people who choose to live here. I like the challenge of capturing the essence of this state by words and photography. If you want a challenge come to "Land of the Midnight Sun," and "Midnight Baseball Game," and don't forget the mind-numbing long cold. Anyway a person hasn't lived until they watch baseball game being played at midnight or have a moose come up to you and almost kiss you.

What or who inspired you to become a writer? After I became an adult I started reading Danielle Steele and Joyce Meyer. I decided I wanted my thoughts and name in print. So I have worked toward that goal for years and do everything I can to strengthen my talent.

When did you begin writing with the intention of becoming published? When it dawned on me that the Lord has protected my brain twice from injury. My desire to encourage people and to write hasn't dimmed at all it has only grown stronger.

Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and why? Yes. My mom and dad have a love of books and writing themselves and have tried hard to have an encouraging environment for me and my brothers to develop our own love of books and writing. They provided us the chance to go to the library and bookstore and tried to have a quiet time during the day.

Do you come up with your title before or after you write the manuscript? For my first book it was after. For my second book it was while I was writing it. For my third book of poetry, which I am currently working on now, the title came to me as I was looking up something else. My fourth book, which, I am currently working on, is a memoir about Asperger's Syndrome. The title for it came to me first.

Tell us why you write the genre that you write? I write poetry because I enjoy encouraging people through the written word. Poetry is like your soul dancing across the pages.

Tell us your most rewarding experience while in the writing process? A person learns a lot about themselves during this process. As I said earlier the writing process is like having your soul dance across the page. It is an incredible accomplishment to see your finished work. A person learns that becoming transparent on the page does not kill you at all. It might hurt a little but once everything is out in the open a person can breathe again.

Tell us your most negative experience while in the writing process? Being interrupted while writing.

Tell us your most rewarding experience in your publishing journey? Seeing everything come together. The icing on the cake is seeing the cover of your book.

Tell us your most negative experience in your publishing journey? Seeing mistakes in your books even after all the hard work you have put into them.

What one positive piece of advice would you give to other authors? Write from your soul. It has something to important to say. Don't be afraid to let it out.

Who is your favorite author? I actually have several.

  • Danielle Steele

  • Joyce Meyer

  • Julie Cameron

  • Natalie Goldberg

Is there anything else that you would like to share with us? I take the words given to me from the Holy Spirit and I try to encourage the lost and broken souls of humanity. I try to write about the beauty and simplicity of life and the great love that God has for us.
