If you like to include old images in your books, you've found that captions often wash out after they're scanned. Here's an easy fix: I use Photoshop, but packages like Gimp will work as well. Do you know about "burning" and "dodging"? They're old, old techniques, left over from the days when photographers developed and printed their images from film. "Burning" is used to darken overexposed portions of an image. "Dodging" is just the opposite. Either or both were done during printing. You…Continue
