A Cafe For Authors and Avid Readers
For years I tried to ignore it... the towering mess, the computer wedged beside the scrumpled mouse pad, half buried under unpaid bills, important notes!!! concerning plots now forgotten, recipes for endive soufflee, the printer shoved teetering half off the side of the rickety card table, with the one, threatening to collapse leg, since like forever, that I used as a desk - itself an over-spill from an outdated armoire meant for a tower and keyboard, plus humpback monitor... Now armoire sits in the corner like a forgotten elephant holding never to be used again, thanks to Google, reference books.
Alas, Mount Vesuvius was ready to blow! After looking at work tables on Amazon and Walmart - flimsy, folding, narrow, tinny, expensive... then kitchen tables, dining room tables... I hit on my go-to place, The Salvation Army. Voila! Now have a sturdy REAL wood 6 foot long antique table, built like a brick commode, capable of withstanding an earthquake and certainly my doorstop thesaurus, lap top, printer, mouse and all... for 35 bucks. Yay SA!
