Crown Hill, A Novel of Love, Life and The Afterlife by Christina M. Abt

We think of a house as a place that we build and shape to reflect who we are.

But what if the reverse were also true?

What if a house could shape those who enter to reflect its own being?

Cross over Crown Hill’s welcoming threshold. Enter into this home’s caring essence. Meet those who have come to define its one-hundred-and-fifty-year existence.

Connect with Mary and Owen Southwick within their 1880’s Crown Hill life, Experience the details of the Southwick’s tumultuous marriage that leads to their spiritual destiny.

Move forward into the new century with the 1908 Crown Hill arrival of the Randall Family. Patriarch Edward Randall is a renowned Buffalo, New York attorney, yet his lingering involvement with the spirit world disquiets his family and disrupts Crown Hill’s tranquility.

Fall into Meg Flynn’s Crown Hill life spanning the 21st century. Meg is a newly divorce woman beginning again but what are the details of her past that she has never known and which Crown Hill persistently reveals?

Become part of the fabric of Crown Hill as woven by those who have cherished it as their home, as shared by the one who knows their stories best… Crown Hill.

Heart & Soul: The Best Years of My Op-Ed Life by Christina M. Abt

Growing up, Christina was always sharing personal stories, even when her family wished otherwise!

In 1995, Christina was given the chance to advance her storytelling talents as an Op-Ed newspaper columnist. Her first assignment was to come up with a name for her column. After some sleepless nights and a few thought-filled days, Christina decided on the title, Heart and Soul.

For fifteen years, Christina wrote columns and broadcast radio commentaries in her unique Heart and Soul style. Early on, she wrote about the things she knew best---family, love, home and holidays. Over time, she expanded her writer's view to include the life experiences of parenting, sports and careers, eventually evolving onto more broad-based topics of community, politics and women's issues.

This book is a collection of those "Heart & Soul" essays, all of which inspired, amused and stirred her followers over the years. They were chosen by Christina with the hope that, as always, her words would reach directly into each reader's heart and soul.

About The Author: On any given day, Christina Abt is living the life of a mother, a nana, a media consultant, a community volunteer, a political activist, a free-lance writer and/or a farm girl. Yet no matter the time or place, the one constant role in Christina’s life is that of a storyteller.

Christina began sharing stories as a child, often to the chagrin of those whose tales she would reveal! Eventually her tales evolved into grade school essays and high school newspaper assignments that inspired her writer’s soul.

Christina honed her story telling talents in her early career through her work as a newspaper feature writer and editor for the Ridgewood News. It was there that she was mentored by the renown sports columnist and author, Joe King, who taught her the value of always getting to the heart of the story.

While raising her family of two children, Christina became a feature writer for a series of national equine publications and launched a 15-year career as the Heart and Soul Op-ed columnist for the Western New York Newspaper, The Sun. Soon her stories were being featured in national anthologies and on the Buffalo NPR Station, WBFO. Eventually Christina became a regular commentator and reporter for WBFO and advanced to hosting her own talk radio show on a Buffalo AM station.

Christina’s first book, Chicken Wing Wisdom (CWW) was published in 2008 by Western New York Wares. It is a collection of stories about Western New York women, their sense of wisdom and the ways in which they share that wisdom with food. CWW became a regional best-seller and is now in its second printing.

In 1995, Christina moved into a hilltop farmhouse named Crown Hill, immediately she began transforming her 150-year old house into a home— a twenty-year renovation project that brought with it a series of intriguing and haunting Crown Hill stories shared with her in a variety of ways and means. Over the last seven years, Christina has labored in weaving those stories into the core of her second book, a historical novel titled in honor of her home.

As Christina readies for Crown Hill’s publication, she continues to tell stories on her blog and in several new writing projects, including a one-woman play. Christina’s writing purpose will always be to tell the stories that touch reader’s hearts and souls and to create a legacy of which her children and grandchildren will be proud.
