White Coat Fever by Roland S. Jefferson

Stepping back from his critically acclaimed crime genre novels, Roland S. Jefferson's White Coat Fever takes the reader on a fascinating trip back in time to the exciting world of the 1960's, when Motown, Jazz and the civil rights movement defined an entire generation. And nowhere was the aspiration of upward mobility more evidenced than on black college campuses where some middle-class black women became obsessed with the idea of marrying doctors. September, a hauntingly attractive civil rights worker who finds both love and brutality in Mississippi jails.....

Perry, a brilliant medical student spoiled by good looks and his reputation as the ultimate womanizer... Aiyana, a self-centered predatory social climber determined to marry a doctor at any cost, even if she doesn't love him..... Bennyboy, an idealistic and principled young medical student who shares an illicit past with a girl he once loved..... Here then is Roland S. Jefferson's magnificent, highly imaginative and immensely compelling story of a black cultural lifestyle at a pivotal time in history.....as four young people are plunged into the center of a raging conflict between political idealism and the relentless obsessions about class, color and romantic entitlement. But obsessions, even noble ones, can sometimes go tragically awry.....

One Night Stand: A Novel by Roland S. Jefferson

How did a street hustler, in and out of jail since he was ten, beat a murder rap, no matter whether he did the crime or not?

Meet Myra Cross, a thirty-one-year-old redheaded beauty with a take-no-prisoners reputation as a Public Defender. She confounds her colleagues and clients alike as she not only wins acquittal after acquittal but poses for Playboy in her spare time. She has the face of an angel, the body of a goddess, and a mind like a steel trap. But with secrets and demons, she neither pretends to be a Girl Scout nor to have all the answers. This time, when she's once again assigned the defense of Napoleon T. Booker -- aka Little Dog Nine, who's charged with another homicide -- she gets much more than she bargained for.

Acclaimed author of the cult classic The School on 103rd Street, Roland S. Jefferson weaves an explosive literary mix of contemporary urban authenticity and classic old-school crime into a mesmerizing, pulse-pounding thriller.

Damaged Goods: A Novel by Roland S. Jefferson

Notorious Alonzo Crane had been dubbed "The Motion Picture Bank Robber" by the press because he modeled a bank robbery after a Steve McQueen movie he'd seen...except that he got caught. The authorities offered Crane a deal if he'd roll over on his accomplices but he refused -- and got twenty-five years to life.

Ten years into his sentence, Crane is offered a chance to leave prison when a corrupt warden, in league with a prison gang, gives him a secret assignment. If Crane can pull it off, his prison record will be wiped clean. Now all he has to do is enlist the help of former cellmate Duffy, a small-time hustler with big-time ideas, and Trixie, Duffy's gorgeous girlfriend with a cocaine habit and a nose for trouble. And if Crane can successfully mimic the plot of an action film he's seen, this time he might stand a chance....

The School On 103rd Street: A Novel by Roland S. Jefferson

When Dr. Elwin Carter is confronted in his Watts clinic by two boys terrified by the brutal murder of their friend, his investigations lead him far beyond the usual suspicions of drugs or gang violence.

This 1976 first and only novel (potentially an upcoming movie) of forensic psychiatrist Roland Jefferson presents a frighteningly prophetic picture of the subterranean war between the races in America.

Card For The Players: A Novel by Roland Jefferson

It’s the 1970’s in Howard Hughes’ Las Vegas, where Elvis reigns as king, Wayne Newton is the crown prince, and Liberace the court jester. Everything else is up for grabs. Where casino banks are open 24 hours a day, and fortunes large and small are won and lost on the games of chance. And so too is the ever-present criminal element determined to beat the odds by hatching illegal schemes so bizarre as to be amusing. But the plan put forth to swindle the casinos out of millions by Jefferson’s protagonist proves to be no laughing matter. Led by Bernie, a manipulative charismatic psychopath who pulls together a team of wealthy gamblers to pull off a complex and foolproof plan to beat the casinos and leave the city with millions. But in order to win, they would first have to lose—they would have to lose 15 million dollars in 72 hours at every casino in Las Vegas. And not one minute more―because everyone knows what happened to Cinderella when the clock struck midnight.....

And so begins the exciting drama of 5 unforgettable characters charged with pulling off a complex Las Vegas heist and their race against time and a clock that continues ticking right up to the very last second of the unpredictable and explosive conclusion. And proving in the end that the ‘strip’s” first benefactor gangster Bugsy Siegel was right—that Las Vegas was not a city built on winners.
